In regional news, the Andrew Holness-led Jamaica Labour Party has secured a historic third term after defeating the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) in Jamaica’s 19th general election on Wednesday.
Speaking on the heel of the win on Wednesday night, Prime minister-elect Dr Andrew Holness thanked Jamaicans for securing the third term, according to him, for Jamaica.

Meanwhile, speaking at his party’s headquarters on Old Hope road PNP president Mark Golding conceded noting he is a believer in democracy.

The preliminary results show that the JLP won with 34 seats to the PNP’s 29. The PNP managed to secure 15 seats more when compared to the 2020 general election. According to the Electoral Office of Jamaica voter turnout for the general election was 39.5 per cent.
