RESIDENTS URGED TO SIGN UP FOR SEWAGE SYSTEM AS PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION

Minister of Communications and Works Kye Rymer is urging residents to sign up for the ongoing Long Swamp Pump Station project, which he says is nearing completion and will play a key role in improving the territory’s infrastructure.

Speaking on location at the Long Swamp Pump Station on Monday, contractors said the project is 85 percent finished. Rymer encouraged residents to register their properties as part of the system, describing it as an important step toward a cleaner and healthier environment.

Chief of Infrastructure at the British Virgin Islands Ministry of Communications and Works, Duane Fraites, explained how the sign-up process will work and outlined the next steps once residents are connected. He assured both residents and business operators that they need not worry about costs, as expenses will be covered by the ministry.

Meanwhile, Premier Natalio Wheatley reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development, particularly in the Seventh and Eighth Districts. He urged residents to “do the right thing” by registering for the system if their current setups are inadequate, even though participation is not yet compulsory.
