Roman Nibbs servers as Premier for a week

A 17-year-old student of Elmore Stoutt High School has stepped into one of the Territory’s highest offices as part of a youth leadership initiative.

Roman Nibbs Alberto was officially sworn in as “Premier for a Week,” a programme spearheaded by the Premier’s Office to give young people firsthand experience in government, while building leadership, public speaking, and decision-making skills.

The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by Governor Daniel Pruce, where Nibbs Alberto took the Oath of Allegiance alongside his student Cabinet Ministers: Niaeika Aymer, Trishelle Phillips, Rudell Stoute, and Zhane Waters.

During his tenure, Nibbs Alberto has gained practical exposure to the inner workings of government. His schedule included participating in official activities and high-level meetings, receiving training in governance, and engaging with Ministers on key national matters.

The student Premier has already begun carrying out his duties, accompanying Premier Natalio D. Wheatley to inter-island engagements and attending meetings, including a recent stakeholder’s session on the Commercial Recreational Vessels Licensing (CRVL).

The initiative aims to inspire civic engagement among youth and provide a deeper understanding of governance and public service.
