CCT and BVI Cable TV Celebrate 40+ Years with Major Public Event

Two of the British Virgin Islands’ leading telecommunications companies are marking major milestones this weekend, celebrating more than four decades of service to the Territory.

Caribbean Cellular Telephone and BVI Cable TV are commemorating 40 and 41 years of operations respectively, with a public celebration set for Saturday, April 18, at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The event, which begins at 4:00 p.m., will feature live performances from popular local bands including VIBE, Xtreme, Razor Blades, and UTB, alongside entertainment from DJ Malie. Organizers say attendees, specifically CCT customers, can expect welcome drinks while supplies last and a chance to win a share of $40,000 in prizes.

“It is going to be a blast,” said Marketing and Media Manager Birch Lettsome. “We are going to be spinning the wheel every hour, but you have to be present and you have to be a CCT Customer to win.”

Lettsome added that additional specials will be available at bars within Pier Park for patrons with a CCT cup who purchase Tito’s during the event.

CCT officially marks its 40th anniversary on April 18. Established in 1986 as the first cellular provider in the Virgin Islands, the company has grown into a major player in the telecommunications sector, recently expanding its offerings with the rollout of 5G mobile services.

BVI Cable TV, which celebrates its 41st anniversary on April 19, has been serving the Territory since 1985, providing cable television and high-speed internet services to households across the islands.

The milestone celebrations highlight the companies’ longstanding contributions to the Territory’s telecommunications sector and their continued role in connecting communities across the Virgin Islands.
