VISAR Reports Four Rescue Incidents Across Territory in May

Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) responded to four emergency incidents across the territory during the month of May while its volunteer coordinators handled dozens more calls through the organization’s emergency hotline 767.

The four responses included one injury incident, one medical emergency, one boat in distress and one missing person case.

According to the organization, the incidents occurred in the areas of Cooper Island, Virgin Gorda and North Sound.

Beyond emergency responses, VISAR also expanded its volunteer team during the month by welcoming a new crew member, Bijorn Bullock.

The organization also noted that members of its Operations Team participated in both the Joint Search and Rescue Committee meeting and a Maritime Safety Engagement meeting as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency response and coordination.

VISAR said the monthly report reflects the continued dedication of its volunteers to the organization’s mission of saving lives at sea.

The organization also expressed gratitude to the community for its continued support, noting that its work would not be possible without the assistance of volunteers and supporters.
