NDP ratifies Aaron Parillon and Perline Scatliffe-Leonard as 2027 election candidates

The National Democratic Party (NDP) has ratified Aaron F. Parillon and Perline Scatliffe-Leonard as its candidates for the Third and Seventh Electoral Districts, respectively, as it continues to build its slate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The ratifications were confirmed following a meeting of the party’s National Executive on July 9, with the NDP announcing the additions on Thursday.

Parillon will contest the Third Electoral District, while Scatliffe-Leonard will represent the party in the Seventh Electoral District. They join a growing list of candidates previously endorsed by the NDP as it prepares for the next general election.

NDP Chairman Marlon A. Penn said the latest ratifications strengthen the party’s readiness for government.

“Every candidate we ratify strengthens our readiness to serve as the next Government of the Virgin Islands,” Penn said. “Aaron Parillon and Perline Scatliffe-Leonard are respected leaders who now join an outstanding team of National Democratic Party candidates, bringing integrity, experience, and a genuine commitment to serving our people.”

Penn said the party remains focused on building what he described as a united and capable team committed to restoring confidence in government, improving public services, strengthening the economy, and delivering results for Virgin Islanders.

Parillon said he was honoured by the party’s confidence and pledged to provide practical leadership for residents of the Third District.

“District Three is home to hardworking people who deserve strong, responsive leadership and real progress,” he said. “I am committed to listening to our people, advocating on their behalf, and delivering practical solutions that strengthen our communities, expand opportunities for our young people, support local businesses, and improve the quality of life for every resident.”

He also referenced the legacy of the late Chief Minister Lavity Stoutt, saying investment in education and leadership development would be key to the Territory’s future.

Scatliffe-Leonard, who will contest the Seventh District, said she looked forward to representing residents with dedication and purpose.

“District Seven deserves leadership grounded in experience, accountability, compassion, and a determination to deliver results,” she said, noting her more than 40 years of advocacy and community service.

She added that she was proud to join the NDP’s slate of candidates and looked forward to working with residents and fellow candidates to address issues affecting the Territory.

The NDP said residents of the Third and Seventh Electoral Districts will have opportunities to meet Parillon and Scatliffe-Leonard during a series of community engagements and upcoming events.

The party said it will continue introducing additional candidates in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.
