SIX INJURIES AMONG 12 INCIDENTS REQUIRING VISAR RESPONSE IN JULY

Virgin Islands Search and Rescue volunteers responded to 12 incidents across the territory during July, with injuries and medical emergencies accounting for most of the calls for assistance.

According to VISAR’s July 2026 roundup, its volunteer coordinators also handled 38 incidents through the organization’s 767 emergency number. The 12 responses included six injury cases, four medical emergencies, one person in distress and one missing-person incident.

The incidents occurred across several locations, including Norman Island, Salt Island, Virgin Gorda, North Sound, Moskito Island and Great Dog.

During the month, VISAR’s Virgin Gorda crew also participated in a Fly the Flag event at Saba Rock and partnered with the BVI Red Cross for a water safety workshop. VISAR said the month’s activities reflect the continued commitment of its volunteers to its mission of saving lives at sea and thanked the community for its ongoing support.
