Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are now available following a temporary disruption caused by staffing shortages and staff illnesses.
The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) announced Tuesday that EMS coverage has been restored, with the Road Town Fire Department providing temporary assistance in responding to emergency calls.
As part of the interim arrangement, evening and night EMS shifts will resume operations from the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.
The temporary support from the Road Town Fire Department is intended to help maintain emergency response coverage while BVIHSA continues to address its staffing situation.
Residents are reminded that in the event of a medical emergency, they should call 911 for immediate assistance. Emergency response personnel will be dispatched as required.
The BVIHSA thanked the public for its patience, understanding and cooperation as the Authority works to maintain safe, timely and reliable emergency medical services across the Territory.
