The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) is preparing to crown its next student ambassadors at the highly anticipated Mr. & Miss HLSCC Pageant, taking place on Sunday, 1 June 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium.
This year’s pageant will be held under the theme “The Dream of a Visionary” and forms part of the College’s ongoing 35th anniversary celebrations.
Five students have stepped forward to vie for the prestigious titles of Mr. and Miss HLSCC, offering a vibrant and competitive slate of contestants who are eager to represent their College community. In the male category, the contestants are Competing for the Miss HLSCC crown are K’Meeya Chung, Shakira Hendrickson, and Jmya Mark. These students will demonstrate their intellect, talent, poise, and passion in the various segments: Personal interview on Friday, 30th May and Introduction and Business Wear, Ambassadorial Presentation, Talent, Evening Wear and Question and Answer on Sunday, 1 June.
The Mr. & Miss HLSCC Pageant is more than just a competition, it is a rite of passage and a defining moment for students who seek to make a lasting impact on campus life. Since its return following a brief hiatus, the pageant has continued to grow in scope and prestige, offering winners the opportunity to serve as official ambassadors of the College.
According to Student Life Director, Ms. Debra Hodge, the pageant serves as an essential component of student development and College culture. “The Mr. & Miss HLSCC Pageant is more than a show. What was once seen as a fundraiser event, is now a celebration of identity, purpose, and student excellence,” she said.
“As the College reflects on our 35 years of service, this pageant reminds us of the power of our students’ voices and the importance of cultivating pride and connection to the College,” Ms. Hodge concluded.
Reigning titleholders Mr. Malacoy Levons and Miss Jhadazia Lennard have exemplified this ambassadorial role. Over the past year, they have attended formal gatherings, represented the College at local and overseas events, delivered speeches, and supported promotional campaigns aimed at highlighting the value of an HLSCC education.
The winners of the 2025 Mr. & Miss HLSCC Pageant will be awarded a scholarship to support their continued academic journey at the College. In addition to receiving a custom-designed crown, sash, and sceptre, the titleholders will benefit from professional training in leadership development, public speaking, and media engagement. As ambassadors of HLSCC, they will also have the opportunity to represent the institution at prominent cultural, educational, and community events, both locally and abroad.
The public is invited to participate in selecting Mr. & Miss Popularity. By visiting the HLSCC Facebook page, supporters can vote by liking or loving the official contestant images from Wednesday, 21 May until Saturday, 31 May at 12 noon. The contestant with the most reactions from users who follow the HLSCC Facebook page will be crowned Mr. & Miss Popularity during the night of the pageant.
Tickets are now available for purchase at the HLSCC Campus Store, the Student Life Department, through any of the contestants, and at J&C Trading Ltd. General admission is $35, while all BVI students with valid ID can purchase tickets for $20.
