THESE ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR THE REOPENING OF USVI SCHOOLS IN THE FALL, AS INSTRUCTED BY THE DEPT. OF HEALTH

VI CONSORTIUM

The V.I. Department of Health on Tuesday issued a detailed guidance for the reopening of schools in the fall. The guidance, released for public, private, and parochial schools, takes into consideration the coronavirus pandemic and the virus’s impact on the community.

Consequentially, schools will reopen based on the level of impact the coronavirus is having on the community, according to D.O.H., which gave three scenarios of reopening coded by the colors green, yellow and red, representing 100 percent in-person learning, a combination of in-person and virtual learning, and 100 percent virtual learning, respectively.

Standing out among the plethora of guidelines is the mandatory wearing of face mask by students, faculty and staff.

D.O.H. said the guidance relies heavily on the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and provides clear steps for students and staff who are returning for the 2020-2021 school year. The “guidance and strategies” were developed by D.O.H. in collaboration with the V.I. Dept. of Education, according the health department.
