TEXT-BASED PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION BY AKIMADÉLARCHER OPENED DECEMBER 28

Castries, Saint Lucia

A new installation BY AKIMADÉLARCHER opened on December 28th. The exhibition, Political Utterances will be on display until January 28.

In this text-based public art installation Political Utterances, AKIMADÉLARCHER explores the concept of Art With A Purpose by using outdoor spaces (Electronic Billboards – Vigie and Bois d’Orange) and social media. In this work, the artist deploys political phrases and engineers how these utterances can become reutterances in the re-imagination.

AKIMADÉLARCHER is an artist based in Montréal, Quebec.

Asked about the text-based art installation, AKIMADÉLARCHER said that while creating this piece he wanted to explore a new way of political conversation in Saint Lucia and looked at ways of integrating text, animation and audio into this epoch of the Saint Lucian mindset. In the artistic process, he found ways to challenge notions of development, citizenship and the nation state; and to allow the viewer two differing curated experiences. One within the confines of a car or street view, then within the same vortex but within the safety and confines of their mobile devices.

AKIMADÉLARCHER is well-known to the general public as a curator of event experiences and in his first solo text-based art installation, says he sees this work as an extension of his curated event experiences, just through a different medium.

The installation will feature more text-based messages, ending January 28.
