CEDAR GIRLS AND ESHS BOYS DOMINATE VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kayla Jacinto and Jason Dunkley-Maduro delivered MVP-winning performances to lead their teams to glory in the Inter-Secondary School Volleyball Championships on November 26.

Their pivotal contributions ensured back-to-back championships for the Cedar International School Spikers and the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) Rams in the Girls’ and Boys’ Divisions, respectively.

In a thrilling final, Kayla Jacinto’s standout performance helped the Cedar Spikers edge past the Ciboney Sharks 24-26, 25-16, 15-8 to clinch their second consecutive title. Jacinto, named Most Valuable Player, played a critical role in breaking the Sharks’ defense and maintaining Cedar’s unbeaten streak that dates back to last season.

The Spikers demonstrated resilience after dropping the first set, rallying behind Jacinto’s leadership to dominate the next two sets and secure the championship.

In the third-place playoff, Tyasia Cameron of the Elmore Stoutt Rams delivered an MVP-worthy display to guide her team to a 21-18, 21-13 win over the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Arabians.

Jason Dunkley-Maduro was the star of the Boys’ Division final, leading the ESHS Rams to a hard-fought 25-23, 25-20 victory over the Cedar Spikers. His powerful serves and critical plays at the net were instrumental in the Rams’ unbeaten season and their successful title defense.

The Rams showcased composure under pressure, with Dunkley-Maduro’s consistency helping them fend off a spirited challenge from Cedar.

In the third-place playoff, Kristian Young’s commanding performance earned him MVP honors as the Ciboney Sharks defeated St. George’s Secondary School 21-9, 21-14.
