A British Virgin Islands sailor recently made history as part of a joint team that captured the inaugural World Saily Caribbean Inclusive Sailing Championship.
Emma Paull of the BVI teamed up with Jamaica’s Andre Daley to win the three-day championship, which was sailed in RS Venture Connect boats at the National Sailing Academy in Antigua and Barbuda.
The duo finished the regatta with seven first-place finishes across the 10-race round-robin series to comfortably secure the championship title.
The event followed an inclusive sailing development programme that brought together sailors and coaches from the British Virgin Islands, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Grenada, Antigua and Chile.
According to a recent post from BVI Watersports, Paull is an experienced sailing coach and racer. The post described the championship as a groundbreaking event for inclusive sailing in the Caribbean, aimed at expanding opportunities for sailors of all abilities throughout the region.
The championship was organized by the World Sailing Para Inclusive Sailing Management Team and the Antigua Sailability Programme.
