BVI WELCOMES LIAT 2020 WITH DAILY FLIGHTS FROM THE CARRIER

LIAT 2020 Limited returned to the British Virgin Islands on Sunday, launching its inaugural flight to the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport and signaling a renewed commitment to regional air travel.

The airline’s comeback marks a significant milestone for Caribbean connectivity, with government officials celebrating the return of a carrier that has long been integral to inter-island transportation.

Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley welcomed the flight, emphasizing its broader implications for regional development.

LIAT 2020, now a 30/70 joint venture between the government of Antigua and Barbuda and Air Peace Caribbean Limited, will offer one-way fares starting at $99. The airline will operate using ATR 42 aircraft and aims to facilitate easier travel between Caribbean islands.

CEO Hafsah Abdulsalam described the launch as a “triumphant moment” for both the airline and the region.

Communications and Works Minister Kye Rymer praised the airline’s historical significance, referencing LIAT’s longstanding presence since 1974.

The airline’s return follows significant collaboration between LIAT and local authorities, with Kurt Menal, Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority, highlighting the partnership that made the relaunch possible.

LIAT expects its renewed service to stimulate regional tourism and economic activity, providing a crucial transportation link for Caribbean residents and visitors.
