The Virgin Islands marked its first official TVET Day on Tuesday, with a bold new message: “Skills Pay the Bills.”
Education Minister Hon. Sharie de Castro announced the initiative in a video message , describing it as a landmark step to position technical and vocational education as a cornerstone of the territory’s economic future.

De Castro challenged lingering perceptions of vocational training as a lesser option, asserting that skilled trades offer forward momentum, not fallback plans.

The Ministry hopes the launch of TVET Day will inspire long-term investment in workforce development and create more opportunities for young people to thrive within the Virgin Islands and beyond.
