BVITB INTERNS LAND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES- PATH TO CREATING TOURISM INDUSTRY LEADERS

The BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is reporting success from the just concluded 2nd Annual Tourism Summer Internship Programme, with students landing employment opportunities.

The Board says the programme has delivered impactful results for Virgin Islands youth and the Territory’s leading industry, tourism.

The programme was designed to give participants hands-on training and exposure to diverse career paths.

This year, ten students were placed across some of the BVI’s premier hospitality properties, including Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Scrub Island Resort, Peter Island Resort & Marina, Nanny Cay Resort, and Necker Island.

Interns received practical training and mentorship in key areas of hospitality and tourism, including Food & Beverage, Customer Service, and Marine Services.

Through real-world immersion in front and back- of-house operations, students gained valuable insight, skills, and confidence to pursue careers in the sector.

The Board announced that several interns distinguished themselves and were rewarded with employment opportunities:

• Auri-Ana Elshabaz (BVI’s 2025 Junior Ambassador of Tourism) – offered a full-time position at Peter Island Resort beginning October 2025.

• Roman Nibbs – offered a part-time role at Scrub Island starting October 2025.

• Jayla Winter – offered a part-time role at Scrub Island during the Christmas break.

• Shajayla Hodge – Nanny Cay Resort recognized Shajayla for her outstanding performance at the resort, and would have offered her a full-time role, if one was available.
