PERSONS TO BE QUARANTINED LEFT THE APARTMENT SAYS MINISTER MALONE

BVI residents are now anxious following Government’s revelation that persons under mandated quarantined may have left the apartment building where the deceased, COVID-19 patient lived.

In Government’s press briefing today the Health Minister, Carvin Malone said “we are aware that a number of persons residing in the compound have since left. We implore them to call the medical hotline so that we can effectively have these persons examined and or questioned so that we can determine status.”

The overseeing Minister also confirmed that the deceased patient may have contracted the virus by coming into contact with an overseas source. This would indicate our first instance of local/community transmission.

Contact tracing is crucial at this point and any delay in identifying and monitoring those persons can contribute to an outbreak if they have the virus.

Any person who may have been in primary or secondary contact with the victim is asked to contact the medical hotline on 852-7650.
