VISITORS TESTED POSITIVE AFTER LEAVING QUARANTINE; COMMUNITY SPREAD DETECTED

It has been confirmed that two visitors subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19 virus after being released from their 4-day quarantine.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Health, Hon. Carvin Malone in a government-released COVID-19 update.

Minister Malone explained that the visitors did a PCR test upon their arrival into the territory and a second PCR test after the 4-day quarantine. On both occasions they tested negative for the virus.

Prior to their departure the visitors tested positive after undergoing an exit screening that was required for their departure.

The visitors patronized many entertainment spots during their stay specifically during Old Year’s Night. They reportedly attended the Old Year’s Party at Coco Maya in Spanish Town Virgin Gorda.

Minister Malone revealed that most of the attendees of the party have been contacted and will be tested.

In his statement Minister Malone gave the Territory’s most recent epidemiological report.

As of January 7, 2021, The Territory’s epidemiological report was reported as 114 COVID-19 cases, 95 recoveries, 18 active cases and 1 death.
