DOMINICA CONTRIBUTES 2000 VACCINES TO THE BVI

Today Sunday March 7th, the BVI is expected to receive some 2000 vaccines from Dominica for immediate distribution, as a result of a partnership with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), which was rallied on behalf of the British Virgin Islands.

Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Carvin Malone made the announcement inviting stakeholders to witness the handing over of vaccines today March 7th, 2021.

This news comes after a delay in shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the UK caused a hiccup in the vaccine roll-out plan which is said to be resuming in the coming weeks.

As a result of the urgency and appropriateness of the donation from Dominica Health Minister Malone called the ‘good news’ as the territory is now expected to continue the administering of the vaccines to residents who are desirous of receiving it.

Minister Malone, while expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of the BVI to the Government of Dominica, the OECS Member States, the Director-General and all the members of the OECS Commission for the timely grant said, “the BVI vaccine rollout will now be in a better position to continue to vaccinate the BVI Public, thereby allowing our economy to continue to move from strength to strength.”
