Construction work on The Bregado Flax Educational Centre – Secondary Division and the Ivan Dawson Primary School are said to be nearing completion.

Deputy Premier And Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley while addressing the Seventh Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly said construction works [for the Bregado Educational Centre] is nearing completion and that the final walkthrough and handover is scheduled for May 5.

“We are looking forward to our staff and students being able to occupy the buildings by the end of May,” he said, adding that infrastructural works and campus clean-up works are also ongoing at the Ivan Dawson Primary School since January 11 and are nearing completion.

“Honourable Wheatley said, “The repairs are complete and the next phase of thoroughly cleaning the building will begin. This we anticipate to take place once the necessary resources can be secured to complete the cleaning process. The school remains at the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church Hall for classes.”

Several public schools were damaged during the passage of the hurricanes in 2017 resulting in changes being made to the operations of public schools. Designs for the remaining damaged schools will continue as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture seeks to provide the best learning environment for students across the Territory.
