SELECT JERGEN MOISTURIZERS BEING RECALLED DUE TO BACTERIA PRESENCE

At least one local supermarket has joined in the call of asking customers to return select units of Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizers following a recall of the product by the manufacturer.

Rite Way Food Markets made the appeal on Wednesday via their social media platforms after the manufacturer Kao USA Inc issued a press release warning of the presence of bacteria in select Jergens products.

The specific product being recalled is the Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer 3 oz and 10 oz products which were manufactured between October 1, 2021, and October 18, 2021.

According to Kao USA Inc, the bacterium is Pluralibacter gergoviae which they say typically poses little medical risk to healthy people.

However, persons with health issues such as a weakened immune system are said to be more susceptible to infections, hence the recall as a precautionary measure.

“Further investigation to determine the scope of the issue is still ongoing. However, Kao USA Inc. promptly took the precautionary step of issuing a voluntary recall of the affected product by removing the product in question from warehouses, working with retailers to ensure the product is removed from store shelves, and proactively notifying consumers,” Kao USA Inc stated.

In the meantime, Rite Way is asking customers with the specific Jergens product to return the item whether unopened or used to any of their select branches.
