The $2 million anonymous donation to the Elmore Stoutt High School Development Project has been guaranteed to be 100 percent legitimate.
However, despite the assertion, the names of the donors will remain anonymous, at least for the time being.
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley confirmed the legitimacy of the donation during a recent press conference.
Premier Wheatley also explained the process that all donated funds undertake, stating that funds for such projects are received by the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and never directly to the central Government.
The leader of government business also issued assurance to the donating public that their donations will be used properly and in a transparent manner as he encouraged more donors to continue supporting the recovery and development of the territory.
In March 2022 during the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, former Premier Andrew Fahie announced that an anonymous company had agreed to donate a total of $4 million towards the redevelopment of the high school campus.
Since then, it was revealed that $2 million was donated with the remaining $2 million pledged to be donated at a later period.
