CABINET APPROVES NEW BVI AIRPORTS AUTHORITY BOARD; THEODORE BURKE & MICHAEL THOMAS TO SERVE AS DIRECTORS

His Excellency, the Acting Governor Mr. David D Archer, Jr. chaired a cabinet Meeting held on 29th August 2022, in the absence of Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, who was overseas on annual leave. The Meeting was held at the Premier’s Office Conference Room and the following was decided:

Noted the expiration of Mr. Bevis Sylvester as Chairman and Mrs. Patsy Lake, Mr. Kelvin Hodge and Mr. Marlon Chocoutou’s appointments as Board of Directors on 23rd May, 2022 and the resignation of Mr. Nathaniel Isaac as a Board of Director on 24th May, 2022; and:

a. approved the following persons as Directors of the BVI Airports Authority Board for a period of three (3) years with effect from 31st August, 2022 until 30th August, 2025 in accordance with Section 6 (2) of the Airports Act, 2003 and Section 8.1 of the Memorandum and Articles of Association:

i. Mr. Theodore Burke

ii. Mr. Michael Thomas (non-executive director)

b. approved the following persons as non-executive Directors of the BVI Airports Authority Board with effect from 31st August, 2022 until 30th August, 2024 for a period of two (2) years in accordance with Section 6 (2)(c) of the Airports Act, 2003 and Section 8.1 of the Memorandum and Articles of

Association:

i. Ms. Susan Daly;

ii. Mr. Kevin Fahie; and

iii. Mr. Selvyn Dawson;

c. endorsed the Minister’s recommendation, in accordance with Section 8.1 of the Memorandum and Articles of Association that Mr. Theodore Burke be appointed as the non-executive Chairman of BVI Airports Authority Board for a period of three (3) years with effect from 31st August, 2022 until 30th August, 2025;

d. noted that the Financial Secretary, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works and the Director of Tourism as ex-officio Directors with effect from 31st August, 2022;

e. noted that the Managing Director, BVIAA and the Director of Finance, BVIAA as Executive Directors in accordance with Section 6(2) of the Airports Act, 2003;

f. noted that the members of the Board would be paid the following stipends

for their services by the BVI Airports Authority Limited:

i. Chairman – $1,250 per month

ii. Members – $800 per month; and

g. decided that the Ministry of Communications and Works instruct the Attorney General’s Chambers to prepare the Instruments of Appointment.
