FORMER SPEAKER ALLEGEDLY ARRESTED AND RELEASED ON SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Reports reaching our newsroom is that former Speaker of the House of Assembly Julian Willock was allegedly arrested and released for suspected human trafficking.

This is according to reports from credible sources which alleged that Willock was apprehended by local police officers on Tuesday January 10, and taken into custody.

Following the reports 284News reached out to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force to inquire on the matter.

The RVIPF did not reveal the identity of the individual they arrested, but listed their age and gender.

The RVIPF said, “On 10th January 2022 officers from the Royal Virgin Island Police Force arrested a 55-year-old male following an investigation into visa waiver anomalies and suspected human trafficking into the BVI.”

“He was subsequently released under investigation. Given this is an ongoing and complex investigation the RVIPF will make no further comment in relation to it,” the RVIPF added.
