INVESTIGATION OF FORMER SPEAKER LINKED TO SUSPICION OF ABUSE OF POWER – CLAIMS WILLOCK

Former Speaker Julian Willock has alleged that his recent probe on suspicion of human trafficking is linked to suspicions that he abused his authority while serving as Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Willock made the claim while appearing as a guest on Tola Radio’s Reggae 360 on Wednesday January 18.

In a statement sent to the media last week, Willock confirmed that he was detained and released without charges after being investigated on suspicion of human trafficking for visa waivers he obtained over the years.

Speaking on the subject, Willock said he has been obtaining visa waivers for several years which span prior to his appointment as Speaker.

Willock also revealed that it was alleged that he only received the visa-waivers during his tenure as Speaker because of his parliamentary position.
