UPDATE ON IMPLEMENTATION OF COI RECOMMENDATIONS

During the most recent sitting of the House of Assembly, Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio Wheatley provided a highly anticipated update on the work currently being done to fulfil the requirements set out in the framework for the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry Report.

Wheatley admitted that the task of progressing with these necessary reviews and reforms has been a daunting one, and he expressed thanks to the many Public Officers and Private Citizens who have been hard at work in that regard.

He noted that a significant number of reports had already been received from these parties.

The Premier also provided some insight as to what will come after the reports themselves have been reviewed.

The Premier lamented that, while significant progress had been made, the Unity Government would have liked to be far more advanced in the process. He explained that, as a result of unavoidable delays, the Government has had to readjust a few timelines.

To stay updated with the progress being made, the Premier urged members of the public to check out the monthly reports posted to the Government website. He stressed that accomplishing these reforms is not simply about being finished but instead about reaping benefits along the way.
