DE CASTRO LAUDS WOMEN’S FOOTBALL COMMITTEE

Minister for Education and Sports Honourable Sharie de Castro has lauded the Territory’s growing Female Football League and the FA Women’s Football Committee as they continue on a mission to “Break the Bias” in the, often, male dominated sport.

She spoke with our team at the recent FA Women’s Festival in East End.

Engagement in sport, she said, is extremely beneficial to academics as athletes and students must be similarly disciplined to excel in their pursuits.

She hopes to see more opportunities for young people in the Virgin Islands to take up activities which allow them to learn and be passionate.

While she has admitted that she has never played football, de Castro says she is up to the challenge and encourages others to take advantage of the opportunities presented in sport.
