USVI GOVERNOR CRITICIZED FOR CHOOSING POLITICAL SIDE IN BVI ELECTION

USVI Governor Albert Bryan Jr has come under heavy scrutiny following his public endorsement of the Virgin Islands Party’s Re-Election Campaign.

Bryan recently visited the Territory and made an appearance on stage at the launch of VIP District 5 Candidate Kye Rymer’s Campaign.

He described the VIP’s slate of candidates as “tough men and women” who have been forged by the tribulations faced by the Territory in recent years.

He said that was the team he believed should continue to lead the Territory in a battle that is not yet over.

The move has been criticised as “unethical and unwise” by local commentator Claude Skelton Cline.

Cline said that of particular concern in this instance is that the endorsement may challenge relations following the election, should the outcome be the victory of another political party.

He questioned whether there was thought given to the impact this could have on relations between the territories, especially given annual events such as friendship day.

Also speaking on the endorsement was 6th District Candidate for the National Democratic Party Myron Walwyn. Walwyn slammed the endorsement and joked that he would have done the same thing had he wanted inadequate leadership for the BVI.
