33-YEAR-OLD AMERICAN IDENTIFIED AS VICTIM OF RECENT FATAL BOATING ACCIDENT

The male who was found unresponsive in the waters following a boating accident off Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke last Thursday, has been identified as American Robert Owen Stafford.

This was confirmed by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on Monday, which said 33-year-old Stafford was from North Carolina.

In a release last week, the police said the accident took place just before midnight on the aforementioned date.

In a statement they said, “The one male occupant was found unresponsive in the waters with injuries to the head while the dinghy he was in was met circling in the area. Following attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead.”

The police said no further information is available at this time as the investigations into the accident are ongoing.
