Raul “Jougo” Sprauve is the 2023 BVI Road March winner.
The Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee confirmed the news in a release on Friday as they announced the winners of the various categories from this year’s August Monday Parade.
Jougo took the road march with his hit song “Lean”, taking his overall tally of road march wins to 13.
He previously won 5 with his band VIBE and 7 with the Showtime Band.
As it relates to the other categories, Kazak won Individual Entry; Musical Entry went to Friends in Steel; New Royal won the best Children’s Troupe and best Majorettes/Cheerleaders; Treasures of the BVI won best Adult Troupe; The Way We Were won Floupe; and the BVI Optimum Sky Dancers won Mocko Jumbies.
An unforgettable entry in the Floats this year came from Beyond the Reef with a giant whale, which secured the non-profit organisation with a win in that category.
Members of the organisation collected the prize on Saturday and spoke briefly on the hours that went into the design.
The Festival and Fairs Committee also awarded Best Decorated Booth this year, which went to Booth 3.
