NO SET TIMELINE FOR REMOVING THE VISA REQUIREMENT FOR GUYANESE

Despite the recent announcement that the visa requirement will soon be lifted for Guyanese nationals entering the territory, there is no established timeline for when the removal will become a reality.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, Hon. Lorna Smith, was asked by local media to provide a likely timeline for when the visa requirement will be lifted.

She replied by stating that the matter is one that still needs to go before the Cabinet of the Virgin Islands to be discussed and voted upon before becoming a reality.

284 Media subsequently asked a follow-up question as to whether a decision will be made prior to the end of 2023.

Minister Smith doubled down on her response, stating that she expects the removal of the requirement to occur soon, but was unable to provide a definite timeline.
