PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND HLSCC REOPEN

All public educational institutions will be open for regular operations today Thursday, February 8.

This after a decision was made by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday to close all public schools following advice from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) in response to the adverse weather conditions that have been impacting the territory.

Despite still experiencing cloudy skies with periodic showers, the Ministry issued the green light for schools to resume normal activities. However, a note of caution accompanied the announcement, with the DDM advising individuals to exercise care due to intermittent showers expected throughout the day.

The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College echoed the sentiment, signalling a return to standard operations. Both the Tortola and Virgin Gorda campuses are set to conduct classes in person during their regular operational hours.

Despite the physical closure on Wednesday, public schools and the college showcased resilience as educators were encouraged to leverage online platforms to issue assignments and facilitate continued learning.
