ELMORE STOUTT HIGH SCHOOL TO REOPEN MONDAY WITH ASSEMBLY, PARENT MEETINGS

Students of the Elmore Stoutt High School will return to campus tomorrow, Monday, May 6th, after a brief transition to remote learning.

In a recent statement, the school said that the return for students will begin with a general assembly at 8:30 a.m. in the courtyard of the L. Adorothy Building.

Officials from the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders will be present at the mandatory assembly.

Following the assembly, students will be released early at 3:00 p.m. to facilitate a series of meetings between specific parents and school staff and administrators.

The statement instructed parents and students to check their email to determine if they are required to attend the meetings happening on Monday afternoon.

The school transitioned to remote learning on Friday, May 3rd in response to undisclosed incidents of “extreme misconduct” that occurred on the campus last week.

The decision to activate the school’s remote learning plan for one day was made by the Ministry of Education, in consultation with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, in order to “provide a secure environment for all while facilitating the ongoing investigation by the police,” according a statement from the school.
