KISHMA PENN URGES MINISTER DECASTRO TO REPAIR DAMAGED SOFTBALL FACILITIES

There is a call for the Minister of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Sharie Decastro to fix the facilities at E. Walwyn Brewley Soft Ball Field which were damaged years ago by Hurricane Irma.

The call comes from Host of Speak Out BVI Kishma Penn.

During the programme Tuesday evening, Penn said that softball is a big part of the BVI’s culture and the field has contributed to development of many players.

Penn stated that when she was a player in the early 2000’s there were facilities at the field to complement the sport but these are now gone due to the hurricane in 2017 and to date nothing is being done to have them replaced.

Penn said soft ball teams from the BVI have been travelling around the region representing the BVI and winning matches.

But unfortunately Penn said the support for soft ball seems to be dwindling as the crowd to last Friday’s match was very small compared to years ago.
