MOTORISTS STRONGLY ADVISED TO REFRAIN FROM USING THE LONG TRENCH/JOHNSON’S GHUT ROADS AS MAJOR REPAIRS CONTINUE

Motorists are being strongly advised by the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities to avoid the Long Trench/Johnson’s Ghut Road as major works continue on that road rehabilitation project.

The ministry made the appeal on Friday November 19 as they expressed their concerns with motorists who persist in using the area which is under heavy repairs.

“The area is an active construction site and can pose a hazard to motorists who traverse the road during the day while works are taking place as well as throughout the night,” the ministry stated.

It added, “Motorists are strongly advised to use alternate routes, namely Great Mountain and Belle Vue/Fort Hill roads, over the next seven days to access Road Town and the Ridge Road.”

Meanwhile, the ministry informed neighbouring residents that they will still have access to their properties during this period, as these individuals should be the only persons allowed to traverse the area.

The ministry said that further updates will be given as the project advances.
