GOV’T TO WAIVE $4 CRUISING PERMIT FEES FOR LOCALS

The government of the Virgin Islands will be waiving the cruising permit fees of $4 for all Virgin Islanders and Belongers.

This was revealed by Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew Fahie during a press conference today Friday March 11.

According to the Premier, the removal of the fee for all locals is to further encourage participation and enjoyment of the BVI’s Blue Economy.

He said, “I take this opportunity to encourage all local captains and boaters to take advantage of this opportunity. The only requirement is to be in possession of valid identifications – a passport or Belonger card. “

Premier Fahie also said that several maritime agencies will be collaborating to provide a “one stop shop for the Charter Industry.”

He said these agencies will be following guidelines which were developed by the group.
