TRC HOST WORLD TELECOM’S DAY SCAVENGER HUNT – AIMED AT BRINGING AWARENESS TO THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRC

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) held a World Telecom’s Day 2022 Scavenger Hunt this morning at the Noel Lloyd Park in Road Town.

World Telecom’s Day is celebrated annually on May 17, 2022.

However, the event was held as part of the TRC’s theme: Bridging the Generational Divide, which compliments the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) theme of Digital Technologies for Older Persons and Healthy Aging.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the event was TRC’s Office Supervisor Ms. Johanna Rymer who provided an overview of the event which was aimed at providing awareness of the TRC’s role and responsibilities.

She said the top prize for the first place winner was a staycation at Little Dix Bay Resort on Virgin Gorda and cash, while second and third place recipients will receive tablets and mobile devices respectively.

Also speaking at the event was the TRC’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Guy Malone, who explained the direction of the TRC in complementing its theme.

Chairman of the TRC Mr. Vance Lewis spoke on the evolution of communication globally, and the role of the TRC in increasing the awareness of the public on communication and the role the Commission plays in the BVI.
