IT WOULD NOT BE IN THE TERRITORY’S BEST INTEREST TO REMOVE BROTHER AS SPECIAL ENVOY – SAYS PREMIER

Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley believes that it would not be in the Virgin Islands’ interest to remove his brother Benito Wheatley from his present capacity as Special Envoy of the Premier.

This was the sentiment shared by Premier Wheatley after a small section of the population raised concerns that having his brother Benito as his Special Envoy may be a conflict of interest.

When asked about his opinion on the matter at a recent press conference, Premier Wheatley said that his brother’s experience over the last four administrations makes him the perfect candidate for the role which he served prior to him becoming the Premier of the Virgin Islands.

Premier Wheatley also said that due to the composition of the territory, most locals are related in some form.

He said there will be times when he will have to recuse himself from certain decisions once it becomes a conflict of interest.

However, he said the present role of his brother is none that puts him in that circumstance.
