VIP SELECTS 10 TO RUN IN THE UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTION – 3 POSITIONS REMAIN OPEN

The Virgin Islands Party has confirmed 10 of its 13 candidates to run in the upcoming General Election.

Some of the candidates were elected while the remaining were ratified during the party’s congress election on Sunday, February 5th.

Re-elected Chairman of the VIP and Premier of the Virgin Islands Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley listed District 2, District 3 and one Territorial At Large position as the only positions left to be filled.

The At-Large vacancy according to the premier is due to the incumbent Junior Minister for Trade Honourable Shereen Flax-Charles failing to properly fill out her application form.

Premier Wheatley announced the names of the candidates who will be running.

Although not disclosing the names, Premier Wheatley said there are a number of considerations for the Second and Third Districts.

He also encouraged persons who may be interested to submit their names to the party to be considered as a potential candidate for the VIP in the upcoming General Election.

When asked about the individuals that are being considered for the two districts and why they were not made to be a part of the Congress Election to be elected for the vacant positions, Premier Wheatley said more time is needed for those potential candidates to confirm.
