Territorial At-Large Representative, Hon. Shereen Flax-Charles has joined forces with the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement and will be contesting the next general elections as a 9th District Candidate. The announcement was made today at a Press Conference held by the Party’s Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Ronnie W. Skelton and Hon. Melvin Turnbull respectively with Hon. Charles seated at the table.
Charles said, “I pledge to serve these Virgin Islands with all my heart with truth and integrity as my motto.”
The move comes weeks after she announced her split from the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) after noting that her views no longer aligned with that party.
In her remarks, Hon. Charles further stated her pledge in serving the country moving forward and said that Hon. Melvin Mitch Turnbull has been the only one who showed her respect.
“He has been the only person that hasn’t double-crossed me, that hasn’t disrespected me,” said Flax-Charles today, adding that she feels comfortable and safe among the PVIM’s party members. “It is very important as a woman that I am comfortable in the space that I’m in.”
