ACCESSIBILITY TO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SPACES STILL AN ISSUE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Residents and visitors with physical disabilities are still facing serious accessibility challenges when travelling to various public and private spaces across the territory.

Chief Executive Officer of Therapy Works Dr. Jerry Smith highlighted this concern in a recent interview with 284Media.

He said it is an issue that continues to be overlooked, but one that needs to be swiftly addressed.

Dr. Smith believes that there are several things that need to be done, starting with having the appropriate legislation in the territory to ensure that buildings and public structures are created to accommodate persons with physical disabilities.

Dr. Smith also said that accessibility issues have also impacted his business Therapy Works, which is relocating from its Pier Park location to Hannah Bay from April 3rd; a location he says is much more accessible to persons with physical disabilities.
