UK PARLIAMENT MEMBERS CALLS ON THE UK GOVT TO ASSIST OTs WITH DEVELOPMENT FUNDING

United Kingdom (UK) members of Parliament are urging the UK Government to do more for Overseas Territories to assist them in their development plans especially those within the tourism industry.

Member of Parliament (MP) Alicia Kearns made the plea during a recent debate in the House of Commons as members discussed a motion entitled “Future of Overseas Territories”.

Also lobbying for more to be done for Overseas Territories was MP James Sunderland who expressed that OTs need more love from the UK, especially with the current global environment that he described as being unstable.

He called for the UK to lock OTs in free trade deals to allow for them to benefit from international trade arrangements.

Sunderland also called for more time to be allotted to delegations from Overseas Territories and for more bilateral meetings to be had to improve the engagement between the UK and the Overseas Territories.
