HALF-TRUTHS – PREMIER ON GOVERNOR’S CLAIM THAT UNITY GOVT WAS MAINLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COI DEADLINES

Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley has refuted the claims made by the governor during his most recent press conference that the Unity Government was mainly responsible for the initial deadlines granted for the implementation of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) recommendations.

While His Excellency Governor John Rankin did state that the decision included talks with his office, Premier Wheatley said, on the contrary, the agreed timelines followed extensive discussions between the United Kingdom Government and the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Despite the tight timelines, Premier Wheatley said his government and members of the public service have been working tirelessly to get the COI recommendations completed.

The premier renewed his plea to the United Kingdom Government to deliver on their agreement to maintain a true modern partnership with the BVI.
