RESIDENTS & HEALTHCARE WORKERS URGED TO REPORT SIDE EFFECTS OF MEDICATIONS

Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services Mrs. Gracia Wheatley-Smith is urging residents and medical professionals to report all side effects and adverse effects experienced after the use of medication.

Wheatley-Smith made the plea during Med Safety Week 2023, an initiative that was created to raise awareness on the importance of reporting side effects or adverse drug effects that are experienced after taking medication.

She said the reports will assist the pharmaceutical industry in improving the medication that is provided to patients.

This year’s theme is “Who can report?” and Wheatley-Smith stressed the importance of reporting at all levels from the doctors down to the patients.

The Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services also explained the differences between side effects and adverse effects.
