Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio Wheatley was recently asked to comment on the ongoing conflict between Guyana and Venezuela surrounding the Essequibo Region.
Wheatley said that he hopes that peace will prevail.
He also called on the Government of Venezuela to respect the due process surrounding the situation and to not escalate the conflict.
Highlighting the number of unfortunate conflicts that have erupted in recent years across the world, Wheatley said in this situation affecting a fellow CARICOM member he hopes to see a commitment to a common humanity prevail.
